## Mathematical Functions and Operators

**Applies to:** ✅ Data 360 SQL ✅ Tableau Hyper API

Functions and operators for performing numeric calculations. Use mathematical functions to:

* **Perform arithmetic** with operators for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and more.
* **Round and truncate** values to integers or a set number of decimal places.
* **Compute powers, roots, and logarithms** for exponential and scaling calculations.
* **Convert angles and compute trigonometric values** for geometric calculations.

* Except where noted, a function returns the same data type as its argument or returns an error in case of failure.
* Many functions are provided in multiple forms with different argument types.
* Bitwise operators work only on integral data types. The other operators are available for all numeric data types.

For more information about supported types, see [Numeric Types](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/numeric.html).

Perform arithmetic and bitwise operations:

*   [Mathematical Operators](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/math-operators.html) — Arithmetic and bitwise operators such as `+`, `-`, `*`, `/`, `%`, and `^`.

Round or truncate numeric values:

* [CEIL / CEILING](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/ceil.html) — Round up to the nearest integer.
* [FLOOR](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/floor.html) — Round down to the nearest integer.
* [ROUND](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/round.html) — Round to the nearest integer or to a number of decimal places.
*   [TRUNC](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/trunc.html) — Truncate toward zero.

Compute exponential and scaling values:

*   [CBRT](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/cbrt.html) — Cube root.
*   [EXP](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/exp.html) — Raise `e` to a power.
*   [LN](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/ln.html) — Natural logarithm.
*   [LOG](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/log.html) — Base 10 logarithm or logarithm to a specified base.
*   [POWER](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/power.html) — Raise a number to a power.
*   [SQRT](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/sqrt.html) — Square root.

Perform division, sign, and value operations:

*   [ABS](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/abs.html) — Absolute value.
* [DIV](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/div.html) — Integer quotient of two numbers.
*   [MOD](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/mod.html) — Remainder of a division.
*   [SIGN](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/sign.html) — Sign of a number.
*   [WIDTH_BUCKET](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/width-bucket.html) — Assign a value to a histogram bucket.

Generate constants and pseudorandom numbers:

*   [PI](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/pi.html) — The constant π.
*   [RANDOM](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/random.html) — A pseudorandom value in the range 0.0 to 1.0.

Convert angles and compute trigonometric values:
