## AI Functions

These functions enable text processing by using machine learning or generative AI.

AI functions are essential tools for data transformation and analysis. Use them to:

* Analyze text sentiment to gauge emotional tone.
* Classify text into predefined categories for reporting and segmentation.
* Generate or summarize text inline by calling a large language model.
* Integrate sophisticated AI/ML capabilities directly into your SQL queries for interactive analysis.

* [`AI_SENTIMENT`](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/ai-sentiment.html): Analyzes text and returns a sentiment label.
*   [`AI_CLASSIFY`](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/ai-classify.html): Classifies text into user-defined categories.
* [`AI_GENERATE_TEXT`](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/ai-generate-text.html): Generates or summarizes text by calling a large language model.

* [String Functions and Operators](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/string-func.html): traditional functions for concatenation, trimming, and case conversion.
* [String Types](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-query-guide/references/dc-sql-reference/string.html): understanding text and character data types.
