Azure hub — databases gap fill (2026-10-21)
What the databases gap fill adds after family 6 — SQL Managed Instance, Hyperscale with elastic pools and failover groups, Cosmos DB's MongoDB, Table, Cassandra and Gremlin APIs with Azure DocumentDB and Entra sign-in from TypeScript, PostgreSQL replicas, upgrades and elastic clusters, a list of retired and retiring database services, MySQL Bicep, and the PostgreSQL and MySQL private endpoint group IDs.

reference/mysql/flexible-server.md(Bicep with a user-assigned identity, Entra admin andaad_auth_only),reference/postgresql/flexible-server.mdand the MySQL document (groupIdspostgresqlServerandmysqlServer, from the REST spec examples), and links from the SQL, Cosmos DB and PostgreSQL references.
2026 changes captured
- Azure Cosmos DB for PostgreSQL is on a retirement path with new deployments blocked; elastic clusters on PostgreSQL flexible server replace it.
- Azure DocumentDB is the new name for Cosmos DB for MongoDB vCore; it uses the
ossrdbms-aadtoken audience. - Microsoft now points Cassandra migrations to Managed Instance for Apache Cassandra and Gremlin to Graph in Microsoft Fabric.
How it was checked
Learn pages via WebFetch (each with its update date); REST spec examples at azure-rest-api-specs@c783b658; the MySQL Bicep builds and lints clean with Bicep 0.48.1; the DocumentDB example (mongodb 7.7.0) compiles under tsc --strict; CLI flags checked against 2.91.0 help (az postgres flexible-server upgrade --validate-only exists there).
Contradiction found
Microsoft's 2025 lifecycle list puts MySQL 5.7's end of support on September 30, 2025; the MySQL version policy says standard support ended September 30, 2026, with extended support from October 1, 2026. The hub follows the version policy.
Still missing
SQL Server on Azure VMs, Azure Managed Instance for Apache Cassandra itself, Cosmos DB for Apache Cassandra and Gremlin sign-in details, and the Entra limitations page for DocumentDB (it couldn't be fetched).
